If you are a residential landlord or tenant, chances are you accepted or paid a security deposit as part of the lease. That security deposit often becomes the focus of a dispute at the end of the lease term. The Florida landlord tenant statute sets for specific timelines for when a landlord can make a claim on the security deposit and when a tenant can object to such claim. It’s important to understand these deadlines so you don’t waive any rights.
